England’s national day is a chance English people here and around the world to think about England’s achievements whether in sport, the arts, business, public services or in voluntary sector, England continues to produce men and women whose standards of excellence inspire the whole world.Of course this day is also Shakespeare’s, which gives us a chance to commemorate England’s greatest writer: so let me join him in sending best wishes to everyone in “this blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England”
