Armistice Day

David Williams, the Labour Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for Crewe and Nantwich, stresses the importance of remembering those who gave their lives in the fight to keep our country free in conflicts past and present.

David said, “In the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month I had the honour of laying a wreath on behalf of the Crewe and Nantwich Labour Party at the War Memorial in Crewe during the Armistice Day service. I was very pleased to see the turn-out both yesterday and on Remembrance Sunday to pay our respect to the people of Crewe and Nantwich who made the ultimate sacrifice. I was especially pleased to see that, in addition to representatives of the Armed Forces and the veterans themselves, there were large numbers of school children and young people present. It is important that we continue to remember those who gave their lives and I am heartened by the presence of so many young people. This year our thoughts are especially with those members of the Armed Forces fighting in Afghanistan, and with their families and friends. I know that they have the support and respect of the people of Crewe and Nantwich.”
