Save our Sorting Office

Labour hopeful David Williams is backing the CWU's campaign to keep the Royal Mail Sorting Office open on Weston Road in Crewe.

David said, "I can't believe that Royal Mail is pulling out of Crewe. Everyone else recognises the town as being strategically important, the gateway to the North West. It makes no sense for Royal Mail to leave the town in favour of a facility on the outskirts of Warrington.

"This is a bad decision for Crewe, with 600 jobs under threat. It is also a bad decision for the environment. The carbon footprint of a letter posted in Crewe will significantly increase as it is transported across the North West. That cannot be right."
